# Taxco Street Scene by Mexican Artist Reynaldo "MAYA", 1949
Peso Priced Item: Not much is known about this artist whose cryptic signature MAYA has been a source of confusion for years. There is a known painter Reynaldo Maya born in 1911. I believe this to be a work by him.
This depicts a typical street scene in Taxco, where the Santa Prisca Church rises above the whole town. Interesting enough the woman who bought it in 1949 wrote a lot about the painting on the back in pencil and dated it 1949.
This measures 14" by 17 " in a very nice carved Mexican estofado frame (the actual artwork measures 11" by 14").
Oil on Canvas, it is signed lower left. |This is from my personal collection of Mexican paintings. Since we moved to the Hacienda Santa Barbara I have had to part with some of my 30 year acumulation of paintings! The new house is much bigger with less wall space due to windows, doors, arches, fireplaces, etc!
