Candelario Medrano Mexican Folk Art "Church", 30" tall
Priced in Mexican Pesos. Candelario Medrano Mexican Folk Art "Church", 30" tall. 12" wide, 8" deep. This piece comes sitting on a custom wooden plynth. It is missing one of the small 'points' sitting on the right hand bell tower. Can be restored. This piece has some interesting molded face pieces.. you can see the finger prints on the back side where the clay was pressed into the mold. Usually Candelario formed the little people with his bare hands, no molds. Not sure if this was a certain period or just a whimisical variation in his procedure. Notice the creative design here.. a window open to the right, another opening upwards.. this whole piece has a special "feel" to it. Acquired directly from Candelario in the 1970's by the Lakeside Pioneers.
Good condition, as with all Medrano pieces, there are likely to be a figure or two that are cracked, missing, etc. If there were major damage or loss we would spell it out here in the description. If you find a 'perfect condition' piece, you're probably looking at a modern reproduction by one of his grandchildren.
